Caitlin & Courtney Turn 2 Months!!

Caitlin and Courtney you turned 2 months old on Saturday and last week you had your well check and as Dr Mark said, y'all are growing off the charts. Courtney you weigh 9 lbs and 6 ozs and Caitlin you weigh 9 lbs and 10 ozs, that's more then 3 pounds in just 2 months, mommy is so proud of you!! You have grown out of Carters size newborn clothes and are on your way to size 3 month clothes, you wear size 1 diapers, drink 4 ozs every 3-4 hours and have several nights where you woke up only once.  Caitlin you look like a mini mommy, are a little chatterbox when you get talking, have a smile that melts my heart, and love to watch tv and are a good sleeper, I think you would sleep 24/7 if there was only a way to eat while sleeping.  When you get upset in the middle of your cries, you make a cute toot sound and spend a lot of time sticking your tongue out at us. Courtney you are a mini daddy, you seem to be more serious then sister, you let Caitlin do most of the talking but I see your smile when it makes its brief appearance, have began to stick out your tongue and you stare into our eyes forever, you are going to be a very thoughtful lady.  You are still the wiggle worm of the family and have become the night owl, it takes forever to get you to sleep.  Both of you have learned to grab things with your cute little hands, holding my finger while you eat (mommy's favorite), or grabbing my shirts and blankets whenever they're in your reach. You can both hold your head up very well, you always want to see what is going on around you. The days of your second month are spent hanging out with mommy, tagging along for errands, lots of time in the swing and bouncers, cheering for your brother at soccer practices and games and falling asleep during tummy time, you love sleeping on your tummy. 

Lions, Tigers, and Bears, Oh My

I have survived two days with Caleb, Caitlin & Courtney alone all day while James was at work, one day last week and yesterday.  Caleb has been seeking out more attention lately so last week I thought that it would be nice to let him stay home from school with us and I would take them all to the zoo and it was 80 degrees out, perfect weather.  We have a membership to the zoo so if we got there and it was a total disaster we would just come home and I wouldn't feel bad about wasting money.  While I was getting all of us ready, Caleb was so excited, he kept talking to Caitlin and Courtney telling them we were going to the zoo to see the zebras and lions.  Caleb told me that the girls' favorite animal was the zebra, his is the lions.  I packed Caleb and I lunch, the girls had a bottle and we were on our way.  I tried to plan for everything, packing lunch so we won't have to fight with crowds with the limo stroller, took the carrier in case of the girls wanted to be held and left with Caitlin and Courtney's tummy full.  Our before lunch adventure went perfectly, Caleb was staying right with us and we were moving through the crowds smoothly.  We stopped for lunch at 11:30 (before everyone else eats) and had a picnic lunch then was off to the family restroom, so happy that it was available and thinking things are just going wonderfully...it's sad when you become a mom of twins +1, the joy you receive from a family restroom being available.  After lunch we headed to the lions, tigers and bears, oh my.  The oh my part is correct, Courtney was beginning to wake up, her lunch time was heading our way.  There was hardly anyone in that area of the zoo and I thought perfect, we'll stop at the lions, Caleb's favorite and I'll feed Courtney and Caleb can have a snack with the lion.  Little did I realize there was a lion talk at the same time and the crowds came.  While I was feeding Courtney, the lion awoke and sat up, Caleb was so excited to see him that he jumped off the bench thinking he could see the lion better, unfortunately, Caleb didn't land on his feet, instead his check and upper lip caught his fall.  It was like instant slow mode for me, a million things going through my head, I was so scared that when he got up there would be blood everywhere and what would I do, Courtney crying because she wanted to eat, how was I going to manage the twins and a hurt Caleb.  Thankfully all my worries were put to rest seconds later when Caleb got up with just a few scratches, he did cry and I held him while attempting to feed Courtney.  After that it was time to head home, I was afraid of what else could happen so we stopped by to see the alligator and headed to the car.  Thankfully for three sleepy kids when we arrived home. 
Yesterday's outing with the four of us was not as exciting as the zoo but is such an example of what a little man my Caleb is becoming.  He loves to be a big brother and a big helper.  While we were hanging out at home, Caleb was singing and talking to his sisters.  They had their 2 month check up yesterday afternoon and Caleb was telling the girls how they were going to see Dr. Mark and that they were going to get shots and that last time he had gotten shots.  Before we left for the appointment I stressed the importance to Caleb that he needs to just sit nicely while the girls were with the doctor and I took our tab so he could play games and I am so proud that he did just that.  After Caitlin's had her shots, he gave her her bottle while Courtney had her turn and comforted her, it was so sweet.  The sweetness and kindness that comes out in Caleb towards his sisters makes all the crazy times worth it.
